School Portrait Day in Columbus Ohio: How to prepare your staff and students

As a Columbus, Ohio photographer who specializes in School Portraits, I know preparing for photo day can be overwhelming. So many factors come into play when deciding what’s best for your school: cost, time, location, photographer, set up… let me help you make it easy!

I’d love to share my streamlined process that will result beautiful, authentic portraits, kids having fun, and happy parents. Your school’s families will be delighted to have photos they actually want to hang on their walls, and staff can rest easy knowing I have a plan for the day and getting parents their images.

How does it work?

Leading up to school photo day, I’ll ask for a roster of students with their parent’s corresponding email addresses. I’ll reach out to parents directly to introduce myself and share all information about what to expect from portrait day as well as ordering images afterwards. I’ll also make a visit to the school to meet the staff and figure out where I should set up for portrait day.

On the day of the session, I’ll come with my easy set-up (typically a backdrop and one umbrella light). Schools typically send one class at a time to have each individual’s portrait taken. Portraits take 1-2 minutes per child and are kept light and fun. At any point during my time at the school, I can break for complimentary staff and class portraits (taken within each classroom or a designated area in the school).

I offer complimentary class photos for all schools

What happens after school photo day?

Within two weeks of my visit, I will email parents with a link to their child’s classroom gallery, which will be password protected. Parents will have a one week window to order digital files and/or prints directly from the gallery. Digital files can be downloaded immediately; prints will be ordered and dropped off to the school within 2-3 weeks of the final order date.

Bonus: I donate 10% of print profits back to the school, which I will drop off via check when I come to drop off prints.

I offer typical loose prints in various sizes as well as custom framing

So if you’re looking for a custom, easy experience for School Portrait day at your school, I’d love to hear from you!
